Following the lead of Breast Health International, Prostate Health International is also in the planning phase of creating its own set of Consensus Conferences.
Because prostate cancer is so prevalent and affects so many men of all ages, baseline screening is an important tool in the fight for early detection. Prostate cancer produces no symptoms in its earliest stages.
PHI’s screening days have been very successful and the program continues to grow. Working with area healthcare organizations such as Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Hahnemann University Hospital, Methodist Hospital, Riddle Memorial Hospital, Lankenau Hospital, Bryn Mawr Hospital, Paoli Memorial Hospital, Einstein Healthcare Network, Fox Chase Cancer Center and the University of Pennsylvania, PHI examines hundreds of men each year, free of charge.
To raise the necessary funding to support these initiatives, PHI hosts the annual Prostate Health International Father’s Day Gary Papa 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Fun Walk. Entering its 11th year, this event has grown from 500 runners to more than 4,600 and is now a Father’s Day tradition for families across the Delaware Valley.
